Strategic Partnership between STT and PKB on the development of Kedah Smart City
STT, PKB establish strategic partnership to develop Kedah Smart City
LANGKAWI – Malaysia’s leading tourist center, Pulau Langkawi was chosen as the pioneer site for the development of the smart city concept for the whole of Kedah which involved the diversification of digital technology and equipped with advanced security features.
Projects carried out through strategic collaboration between local security system providers, STT Technologies Sdn. Bhd. (STT) and a subsidiary of the Kedah state government, Permodalan Kedah Berhad (PKB) will develop digital infrastructure systems such as safe towns, tourism and smart communities as well as smart public services.
STT chief executive officer Suhaimi Ahmad said the safe component of the city involved the administration, industry, tourism and border clusters in an effort to enhance the function of more efficient civil service management and to ensure a more productive delivery system.
The idea and concept to be developed is according to the plans made by the previous state government to make Pulau Langkawi as a digital island. For larger concepts, STT will develop the entire state as a smart city.
STT has identified several sites that will serve as a pioneer site. However, the development of this project will be done in stages according to the prescribed components and will be closely monitored by the state government acting as the Project Monitoring Committee.
“STT believes that through this project it will provide higher value added to the community in order to increase local socio-economic development as well as raise the image of the state government in systematic urban management,” he said.
He was speaking to reporters after being found at the STT exhibition site at the Langkawi Digital Carnival at the Mahsuri International Exhibition Center here today.
